Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has asked Kenyans to ignore NASA’s call for election boycott.Omar instead wants Kenyans to turn out in large numbers on Thursday next week and exercise their democratic right.Speaking in Mombasa on Friday, Omar said NASA has no right to call for election boycott. The former Wiper Party secretary general who decamped from the opposition to Jubilee Party said the planned Thursday repeat poll will take place whether NASA like it or not.Omar accused NASA of pushing for selfish interests stating that the interests of Kenyans are bigger than any individual in NASA.“My appeal is to Kenyans to ignore NASA election boycott calls and come out in large numbers to vote for their favourite candidate,” said Omar.Omar said NASA is not prepared for the election, adding that the Raila Odinga led opposition coalition’s agenda is to cause violence. He asked police to guarantee security of Kenyans as they turn out to take part in the polls.NASA leaders have maintained that the October 26 repeat polls will not take part as planned. The opposition is mounting pressure on IEBC to cancel the repeat poll claiming that the poll body is not ready to conduct credible polls. The government has however warned NASA against interfering or preventing Kenyans from voting, warning that it is ready to deal with anyone who will deny Kenyans a chance to participate in the election.
