Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar would still retain his seat if elections were held today.
According to a new study by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) that was released on Wednesday, Omar would get 13 per cent against his closest opponent, Abdusalaam Kaasim whose popularity stands at 12 per cent.
Mohamed Abbas would score seven per cent, the Star has reported.
TIFA managing director Maggie Ireri while releasing the findings said 57 per cent of the respondents were still undecided on who to elect for the Senate.
The senatorial contest is fast shaping up with several aspirants seeking to replace Omar who has cast his eyes on the Mombasa governorship.
The Wiper secretary general is expected to face off with Governor Hassan Joho of ODM among other contestants in the August elections.
On the other hand, Mishi Mboko would be re-elected as the county's woman represen with a popularity rating of 44 per cent.
Her closest rival Hazel Katana of Jubilee was rated at three per cent, according to the opinion poll.
Thirty six percent of the respondents, added Ireri, are undecided on who to elect as the woman rep.
The study which was conducted from March 16-18, polled 550 respondents.
