Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar has unveiled the party’s aspirant in the race to smoke out Governor Amason Kingi during the forthcoming general election.
Omar on Thursday named Michael Tinga as the aspirant the party has fronted to contest for the Kilifi governors seat, adding that Wiper is not ready take part in the National Super Alliance (NASA) joint nominations as advocated by several leaders including his rival Governor Hassan Joho. Tinga exuded confidence in clinching the seat, and challenged Kingi to prepare for a tough battle. The issue of joint nominations has attracted mixed reactions among Coast leaders, with some alleging that those opposed to the move fear defeat. Joho on Wednesday said that NASA’s only enemy is UhuRuto, adding that the alliance has to remain united to beat Jubilee during the August polls."Our common enemy is from outside and we in ODM do not think our enemy is in ANC, Wiper or Ford Kenya. Those who are talking too much will shut up for good on August 8," he said, as quoted by the Standard. On his part, Kingi has continued to express confidence that he will trounce all his rivals.
