Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar now wants the court to direct the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to produce a copy of Governor Hassan Joho’s degree certificate.Omar, who lost to Joho during the August 8 general election, wants the electoral body to present to court the certificate Joho used to receive clearance to participate in the gubernatorial election, Baraka FM has reported.Omar has maintained that the Governor’s re-election does not reflect the will of the people, citing poll illegalities and irregularities. He also wants IEBC to allow him to access the KIEMs kit and form 37A used to declare Joho the winner, as well as diaries from the 934 polling stations in the county. In a sworn affidavit filed by his lawyer Yusuf Abubakar, Omar is also seeking the scrutiny and recounting of the ballot papers that saw Joho emerge victorious. However, Omar is yet to respond to an application filed by Joho on September 26 seeking to have the petition challenging his win thrown out of court. Lady Justice Lydia Chode gave Omar five days to file his response before the case proceeds.
