Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has warned Kenyans against voting for incompetent leaders in the August 8 general election.Omar said development will not be realized if Kenyans continue electing non-performers.Omar, who is seeking to unseat Mombasa Governor Hassan Jojo, asked Kenyans to thoroughly scrutinize politicians before electing them.The Wiper Secretary General said the country has lagged behind in terms of development because of poor leadership.He said the high inflation rate, unemployment, famine, drought and increased insecurity are all as a result of poor leadership.“Kenyans must wake up and elect leaders who will champion development in every corner of this country,” said Omar, as quoted by the People Daily.Omar took a swipe at Governor Joho accusing him of spending time in political rallies at the expense of Mombasa residents.He said Mombasa and the entire Coast region has adequate resources that can be used to better the living standards of the locals, but leaders are engaging in petty politics and not working for the people.“The problem facing Mombasa and the country at large is not lack of resources but poor leadership,” he said.Omar pledged to spearhead real development if elected governor in the August polls.The senator said his government will focus on creating jobs, improving security, fighting drug barons and empowering youth, women and persons living with disabilities.Omar is seeking Wiper's endorsement to unseat Governor Joho in the August 8 polls.
