Wiper Party Secretary General, Omar Hassan, has said that the political outfit will take stern action against leaders who will be involved in acts of violence during the nominations.
Omar, who was addressing the press on Monday, said that the party will lock out all candidates who will be found guilty of leading violence during the primaries, in a bid to ensure a peaceful exercise.
"Wiper will not impose any fine, any evidence of violence will lead to automatic disqualification and immediate prosecution of the said persons," he said, as quoted by Star.
Omar, also Mombasa Senator, said that there is no need for supporters and aspirants to panic ahead of the nominations because this nation has laws to protect them against acts of violence.
"Anyone who is planning to create tension or chaos will be dealt with by the law because this country has laws and they must be followed," Omar added.
The legislator also said that the party’s top brass held meetings with security organs in the nation to ensure that the exercise is not marred by chaos. He said he is confident of free and fair polls.
"I had a meeting with all security organs and they have committed to offering all security required in all polling stations. We are hoping to have free, fair and transparent nominations as we have witnessed in all other counties where Wiper has candidates," he said.
