Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has dismissed the defection of Tana River Governor Hussein Dado and Woman Representative Halima Ware to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party, as inconsequential.
Omar said Dado’s defection is meaningless and will not affect Wiper’s popularity at the Coast. The Mombasa Senator further said Wiper is strong in Coast and will field candidates for all seats in the August 8 general election. He said the party has put in place proper mechanism that will see it clinch all seats in the Coast region.“Wiper will not be swayed or weakened by few meaningless defections,” he said during an interview on Citizen TV, adding that Governor Dado had affairs with Jubilee since 2013.Omar claimed that defectors running to Jubilee are afraid of competition and they will not recapture their seats in the August polls. This comes after Governor Dado and Woman Representative Halima Ware on Sunday defected to Jubilee Party.Dado said there was nothing meaningful in Wiper and the larger opposition, adding that Jubilee has an agenda for Kenyans unlike NASA.Jubilee is working hard to win the Coast votes ahead of the August polls, with the party making many trips to the region that is considered an opposition stronghold.
