The Ombei Ward representative was sworn alongside Phillip Edwin Anayo, Milimani Ward representative who was sworn in as the new minority whip.

Earlier in the morning, nominated MCA Bob Ndolo asked the speaker whether it was allowed in law to swear in Anayo despite having a corruption case in court.

"My speaker, is it in order for the house to swear the Milimani Ward representative with an ongoing court case?" posed Ndolo.

Central Ward MCA Elijah Ochieng who sat as the speaker said that Ndolo had handed in his resignation letter as the minority leader thus anybody could fill the vacancy.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) held their elections yesterday where the elected Auko as the minority leader and Milimani MCA Edwin Anayo.

On Tuesday afternoon, the assembly was thrown into confusion when two different names for the position of leader of minority were presented.

Anayo, whose position had been taken by Ndolo, proposed Joshua Auko as the new leader of minority and himself as the new minority whip.

Caroline Owen (Kisumu North) then stunned the house when she read another letter to the house purportedly from the party endorsing Maurice Ondiek (Miwani) as the new minority leader.
