Residents of Ombeyi Ward in Muhoroni constituency are set to benefit from an assortment of medical equipment.

The area MCA Joshua Auko said the medical equipment was a donation from his friends from the United States of America.

Auko said the donation includes clothes, books, sanitary towels, high bold pressure machines among others.

He said the consignment is at his rural home and he will embark on distribution based on needs assessment.

Mr Auko said he has identified girls schools in the area that will receive sanitary towels.

“These towels are wash and wear and the girls will now not purchase the towels on a daily basis,” he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Friday, Auko said the issue should not be politicised by leaders.

He said some people who are keen on contesting for the 2017 general election incited locals to demonstrate against the donation.

Auko urged leaders to pull together towards bringing development to the locals instead of playing cheap politics.

“Leaders should put side political differences and bring development to the people. Locals are interested in what is benefiting them and they should be spared of politics until 2017,” he said.
