United Nations Habitat Ambassador Sam Ongeri and Former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara are warming up to join Orange Democratic Movement, a Kisii MCA who spoke on condition of anonymity has revealed.
The two, who have been working closely and on Sunday attended a fund drive at Magenche in what was termed as ‘Obuya Bwomogusii’, a parallel faction that opposes ideologies an earlier group opposed to Governor Ongwae dubbed ‘Obomo Bwomogusii’ under the leadership of Chris Obure.
On Tuesday, the MCA said the two Omingo Magara and Sam Ongeri would be fronted for Senatorial job and Deputy Governor respectively under the new pact.
“I don’t want to speak on behalf of anyone but I know it’s a matter of time they defect to ODM because that is where they will have a space to contest in 2017 General elections. The lineup has been set and it’s only a matter of time it’s unveiled,” he said.
He added: “This is about elections and ODM is attracting people due to its popularity. They are supporting Governor Ongwae reelection and that is enough prove that they are joining us.”
On Sunday, both Omingo and Ongeri drummed support for embattled Governor James Ongwae who has been under onslaught by Jubilee associated leaders Senator Chris Obure, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi among a host of other leaders.
Under the new deal according to the MCA, Nominated Senator Janet Ong’era will go for Women Rep seat.
In Obure’s group according to information available from insiders of the Jubilee camp, Obure will go for Governor while Maangi will deputise him. Former CIC chair Charles Nyachae will run for Senatorial Job while the incumbent Women Rep Mary Otara will defend her seat on Jubilee ticket.
