Troubles emerged after Nyaribabri Chache member of parliament Richard Tong'i hinted out to the crowd that the group's flag bearer in 2017 gubernatorial race will be Chris Obure.

As soon as Tong’i started his anti-Ongwae speech chaos erupted for several minutes and the function was disrupted for some minutes.

It forced subsequent speakers to change the topic of the day to supporting Education CS Fred Matiangi who is being blamed for the shortfalls affecting Kisii education sector, from a political declaration it was supposed to be.

Calming down the rowdy youth Kisii county deputy Governor Joash Maangi assured the residents of their support to the current governor.

“We did not come here to campaign but we will come again in another day so calm down as we continue to unite Gusii Community,” he added.
