Obure, however, clarified that the initiative was not meant to give the incumbent leaders an upper hand to edge out their opponents during party nominations for various positions, instead, it was meant to bring everybody on board to chat the community's future political destiny.

Speaking at Otamba DOK Primary school during a fundraiser in aid of St Augustine's Otamba Girls Secondary school in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Obure denied allegations by those opposed to the Gusii unity initiative that it was meant to propagate selfish political gains by current elected leaders from the County as they strategise to win various elective seats in the coming elections.

Obure said Gusii unity initiative was not a platform for its proponents to share out various elective seats amongst themselves ahead of the forthcoming elections, instead, it was championing for social, economic and political rights of the Gusii community.

"I am dispelling fear from our brothers and sisters aspiring for various elective seats in this County not to shy off from joining us in championing for the Gusii unity since it is for everybody's benefit and not the chosen few as others could be thinking," clarified Obure.
