Despite topping group A,national soccer side Harambee Stars may still fail to bag the ongoing Cecafa senior challenge trophy,a veteran coach has revealed.

The Paul Put led charges began their campaign on a high note, thrashing Rwanda 2-0 at the Bukhungu Stadium before securing a barren draw in their second match against invitees, Libya to top the group with four points.

However, Posta Rangers tactician Sammy Omollo 'Pamzo' on Wednesday told a local sports website that Stars are not the tournament's favourites although they could spring a surprise or fair much better.

"Well the coach has an experience on how to handle big teams, and I believe Kenya has secured a top coach.Despite that I still don't believe that Stars have suddenly become favourites,it is a process. The players have to get used to his new tactics, and that might take time.Remember the coach also needs a little more time to know his players well",the former Kenyan international told Goal.com.

The former Tusker FC coach was however quick to add that Stars could grow into a formidable side going into the future

"The scenario I am seeing is the team growing stronger as the tournament progresses, and who knows, they might win it", he added.
