Ms Penninah Mokeira, who scored an A- in the national exams, is a total orphan who has been under the care of an elder at Omoyo SDA church.

Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Thursday, elder Peter Nyamboki confirmed that he had received the good news from the MP’s personal assistant, Justus Omiti, two months after he had made the formal request to the legislator.

He said he had been overwhelmed and could not afford to sponsor the student any more due to limited finances and the announcement was an immense relief to him.

“I have been in deep stress following her great performance. She is about to join campus and I am not financially stable. I salute the MP and his team for accommodating my request,” he said.

“I never lost hope ever since I made a formal request after the release of the exams in early March. I am glad that my daughter will fulfil her ambitions,” he added.

Ms Mokeira, who had lost her parents at the tender age through a road accident, was equally delighted and promised to work harder and become a nurse and help the society.

“I am very humbled to the elder who has been my family all these years and the MP as well. I will reward them by becoming a nurse and help the society in return,” she said.
