ODM Kitutu Chache South parliamentary hopeful Samuel Omwando has conceded defeat in the Tuesday polls after losing to the incumbent MP Richard Onyonka.
Speaking on Wednesday, Omwando accused his party leader and Opposition chief Raila Odinga of abandoning him in the last minute.
Mr Odinga threw his weight behind Mr Onyonka of Ford Kenya.
According to Omwando, his party's top leadership decision to back his rival was entirely to blame for his loss in the polls.
“I appreciate the support I got on Tuesday from the people of Kitutu Chache South, but I could not surmount the three powerful forces that were fighting me separately,” he remarked.
“For now, I am politically neutral since I was shocked to find out that my party leader was not supporting me,” he added.
Omwando emerged a distant third after garnering 4,324 votes.
Jubilee Party's Anthony Kibagendi was second with 5,074.
