Police in Matungulu, Machakos have arrested a man who was in possession of bhang worth Sh700,000.
Matungulu OCPD Joseph Chesire said John Matundu was arrested at a police roadblock at Matungulu on Saturday.
Matundu, according to the police boss was transporting the bhang in a private car.
A man who was in Matundu's company who escaped is being pursued police said.
Chesire said Matundu was arrested as he also tried to escape from arrest.
He said Matundu would be arraigned in court after completion of investigations.
“The car was suspiciously being driven," Chesire said.
"We stopped the car and the two who were inside tried to escape. We arrested one but the other one escaped. The bhang was in three sacks and it has a value of about Sh700,000."
He said police will not relent in the fight against lawlessness and crime in the area.
