One person was detained, Monday for illegally having in custody voting materials in Obungu area, Kisumu county.

Vehicle ferrying empty ballot boxes were also seized.

A section of the boxes were branded with the names of different polling stations including Kanyamedha, Okoreor and Ogonda.

The suspect is alleged to have had intentions to use the materials to rig party primaries.

County police boss Titus Yoma said the matter was under investigation to establish where the boxes were being taken to.
