[Photo/Nation]The Supreme Court of Kenya is on Friday, August 1, 2017 expected to give a 'major' ruling on the presidential election petition.Nasa principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka filed the petition on Friday August 18, seeking the court to nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory that was declared by IEBC's chairman Wafula Chebukati on August 11.The two petitioners through their lawyers led by senior counsel James Orengo have alleged the August 8 polls were not conducted in a free and fair manner. They claimed the IEBC's servers were hacked so as to rig in Uhuru. The respondents (IEBC, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and the president elect) have however dismissed the allegations and asked the court to uphold Uhuru's win.A seven judge bench led by Chief Justice David Maraga will give a verdict on Friday whether to nullify or and order for a re-run or uphold Kenyatta's victory.Speaking on Tuesday after the court hearings came to an end, Maraga said he cannot tell the exact time his team will give the verdict. He however noted the time will be communicated through the registrar of the court."We will deliver judgement on Friday. I can't tell you the exact time but you will be notified by the registrar," said CJ Maraga. The judges have retreated to write their verdicts.
