A middle-aged woman lost her life on Friday evening in a fatal road accident at Sironga in Nyamira County, while another pedestrian, who was involved in the accident is fighting for his life at Nyamira Level 5 Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira OCPD Riko Ngare said the deceased, Rodah Kenagwa, was on her way back home from Sironga road, where she had gone to sell her tea leaves to 'soko huru', when she encountered her untimely death.
Ngare said the 50-year-old mother was hit by a private car that is said to have been speeding from Nyamira to Kisii town.
"The deceased died on the spot after she was hit at Sironga by a private car that is alleged to have been on high speed from Nyamira to Kisii town," he confirmed.
"Another pedestrian who was involved in the accident is receiving treatment at Nyamira Hospital," he added.
Bogichora MCA Beauttah Omanga, condoled the bereaved family, and asked the government to erect bumps in the area as one way of reducing carnages.
"I send my condolences to the bereaved family for losing their loved one. She was the bread-winner of the family because her husband is crippled, and therefore the family has suffered a big blow," said the MCA.
