One person died with eight others sustaining injuries following morning clashes between Kisii and Kipsigis communities in the Olmelil area along Narok-Kisii border.
The eight are said to have sustained arrow injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Kisii county.
Reports indicate that the clashes began when Kipsigis men raided and stole three cows from Kisii neighbours in a Saturday night incident.
According to Ikorongo location Chief Francis Omide, the fighting has already been quelled but tension remains very high.
“I have never seen such a big group of warriors,” he said.
“Dozens of security officers are on the ground,” he added.
Earlier on Friday, Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno had been summoned to the Kilgoris Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices for interrogation on incitement over the Olmelil skirmishes.
