A man has been confirmed dead and two others injured in Kangundo area within Machakos County when the car they were travelling in lost control and landed in a ditch.

Confirming the incident Kangundo Traffic Commander Davies Okisai said that the three men were headed to Kangundo from Tala and the driver lost control as he tried to overtake a lorry where the vehicle rolled twice into a ditch.

The officer revealed that the driver of the car died shortly after he was admitted in Kangundo District Hospital in a critical condition.

The officer asked motorists to be careful especially while overtaking stressing that safety should be preferred to speed.

Okisai said that a similar accident happened on the same spot in 2014 involving a matatu and a private car where four people lost their lives.

"This is a very dangerous spot and drivers should stop gambling with their clients' lives while driving around this area,” he said.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kangundo Funeral Home and the two injured are admitted Kangundo Disttict Hospital.

The vehicle was towed to Tala Police Station as police probe into the accident.
