One person has been killed and several injured in Githurai 45 this morning after police shot in the air to disperse rowdy goons allegedly hired by one of the businessmen in the area.
George Muiruri, a witness and resident of the area, said that two men had a disagreement in business and one of them sort help from the police who found that the other one had solicited goons to help him.
The police shot in the air while trying to disperse the crowds where a stray bullet hit one of the protesters killing him instantly.
Muiruri said that the police have also arrested several people in connection with the incident.
He said that the two have been business rivals for a long time and have in the past disrupted peace in the area in the same way. This time however it was rough leading to the death of one person.
Kasarani OCPD Francis Sang’ said that they would launch investigations into the chaos to establish what transpired.
Last year, a police officer was arraigned in court for allegedly shooting thugs who had been terrorising residents. The residents demonstrated severally calling for his release saying that he should have been commended instead of being arrested.
