One Person died on the spot on Monday morning after a bodaboda collided head-on with a Matatu in Maili Nne area along the Eldoret-Kitale Road.
Justus Kipruto, an eyewitness said the bodaboda driver was coming from Eldoret town driving at a high speed.
"A bodaboda rider was coming from Eldoret town driving at a very high speed when he tried to overtake a trailer but collided with an oncoming matatu died on the spot," he said.
He said after the accident, the matatu driver seeing that the bodaboda operator had perished, he ran away leaving the matatu to be towed to the Eldoret West Police Station.
Area OCPD Smollets Munyianzi who confirmed the incident warned motorists against overspeeding saying it is the main cause of accidents.
"I urge motorists to drive carefully and observe traffic rules and for anyone who will be found overspeeding, stern action will be taken against them," he said.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary.
