According to eye witnesses the deceased, William Omariba, was attacked by his two brothers Sammy Omari and Henry Mayaka over a small piece of land that the deceased had inherited from the father.

It is alleged that the deceased was favored by the late father on grounds that he was a legitimate son hence was subsequently given 'more land' than other siblings.

Before his demise, it is said the trio had been locked in war of words.

Miriam Omariba deceased's wife said that the two went in their house disguised as visitors.

“They ambushed him using machetes. They fought for a while before killing him,” said Omariba.

She added that the three have been squabbling over a piece of land his husband was given by his father as a gift.

The issue is said to be in the hands of area village elders and was awaiting determination.

Nyamira OCS Stephen Mwake confirmed the incident and said the suspects were admitted in Nyamira Hospital and will soon be arraigned in court.

“They were reportedly wrangling over a small half a hectare but we arrested the accused and are in hospital under police custody awaiting to be charged over murder,” he confirmed.
