It is now official that Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has considered controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna for the office of the deputy governor which was left vacant after the unexpected departure of Mr Polycarp Igathe.
Nairobi county assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi confirmed the content of the letter that has been shared widely on social media platforms on Thursday morning while speaking in an interview on Hot 96.
However, Elachi said there is still one more hurdle for Miguna to overcome before he assumes the office of the Deputy governor Nairobi county.
"I would tell Miguna to first clear his issues with the Kenyan government. He is Canadian, that procedure can take us 3-4 months," said Elachi.
"The Governor has given us a nominee. We will follow the law. The constitution is clear that a Deputy governor needs to be a Kenyan citizen. You also need 90 votes and above," she added.
