A lorry on Friday veered off the road and bumped into a truck which was parked on the roadside near the Kondele Police Station. The driver of the lorry was trying to avoid hitting a bodaboda operator before he lost control of the lorry which was ferrying sand. The truck driver sustained injuries on his left arm and was taken to Avenue Hospital in Kibuye for treatment.A group of bodaboda riders operating in the area threatened to set the lorry on fire, claiming that lorry drivers in the region have become careless.Collins Omondi, a bodaboda operator in Kondele, cited an incident where a truck loaded with sugarcane knocked down and killed two pedestrians near Kibuye Market.Kondele OCS Ben Baraza who confirmed the incident urged road users to exercise caution to avoid such accidents.“Our roads have been narrowed at some points due to the on-going road construction activities on the Kakamega-Kisumu Road. We should avoid speeding. Cases like this can be avoided,” said Baraza. The two vehicles were towed to the Kondele Police Station.
