One person was on Wednesday killed after five knife-wielding men attacked Galole Constituency tallying centre at Hola Secondary School in Tana River.
Police shot dead two of the attackers.
Several people were also injured after the attackers disrupted vote tallying at the station.
The attacked forced IEBC officials, journalists, candidates and their agents to flee.
A Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student was killed during the incident which was contained by the police manning the centre.
Police could not confirm who carried the attack by press time.
