One person was shot dead while several heads of cattle stolen in Kapyego location in Marakwet East in a suspected bandit attack.
The bandits suspected to be from Kipchumwa area conducted a raid in Kewabus village at around 2 am.
The victim was sleeping when he was shot.
Police and reservists are currently pursuing the stolen animals,
“The stolen animals were taken towards Kamolokon area, deep in Embobut forest. The police, with the help national police reservists are now in hot pursuit of the cattle rustlers,” said area police boss Antony Muriuki.
Muriuki urged locals to help police with information that may lead to the arrest of the bandits.
“We are yet to establish the number of cows stolen,” he said.
