The other passengers who were in the 4NT Sacco matatu sustained minor injuries, and were rushed to the nearby Igegania Sub-County Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.

According to eye-witnesses, the car, which was headed to Mang'u lost control before hitting the matatu that was headed to Nakuru.

“The Toyota Saloon car was on high speed leading the driver to lose control and the car started to sway on the road. At that time, the matatu was coming from the opposite direction and there was no time to give way to the speeding car and that is how they collided,” Francis Kinyua, a witness said.

Kamwangi Police Station officers arrived at the scene later and collected the woman's body, which was taken to Gatundu District Hospital Mortuary.

Motorists using the road have been warned severally by the area OCPD against speeding on the narrow road to avoid accidents.
