One person was killed and three injured when a matatu collided with a lorry on Mombasa-Malindi highway on Thursday morning.

The Roka area accident involved matatu registration KBL 202 N heading to Malindi from Mombasa.

It collided with a lorry ferrying sand from the opposite direction.

According to witnesses said the lorry driver lost control and crashed into the PSV before veering off the road. He fled after the accident.

Charo Thoya, a 50-year-old deacon at New Life Centre Ministries in Chumani, died at the scene.
