According to sources, the officer was with his colleagues, who sustained serious injuries.
They had escorted prisoners to Kabarnet High court for case hearings.
The officers were on their way back to Nakuru GK prison when their vehicle's tyre burst at Kimose area near Mogotio town.
Patrick Nyangaresi, area OCPD said the vehicle rolled several times killing the officer on the spot.
"The wardens and prisoners who sustained injuries were rushed to Marigat, Ravine and Nakuru hospitals", said Nyangaresi.
The OCPD urged road users to be cautious about the section which is deemed as a blackspot
"Drivers should not speed while on this road due to several potholes". he noted.
