A man has been confirmed dead after being shot by police on the chest in Kisumu Cord protests against IEBC.
His body was taken to the Kisumu County Hospital mortuary.
Five others are fighting for their lives at a Kisumu hospital with gunshot wounds.
The five have been admitted at Kisumu County hospital.
Businesses in the lakeside town were closed as police battled with the protesting youths who had blocked key roads.
Youths in Migori County barricaded major roads in the town by lighting bonfires in the demonstrations.
Most schools in Kibera remain closed due to the expected protests.
Nyamira Governor Cyprian Awiti led peaceful anti-IEBC demonstrations in Nyamira Town.
Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama Monday said the number of demos will increase gradually. He said two will be held next week if there is no dialogue by Monday.
He said the protests will be held on a daily basis if the government does not respond to dialogue calls in three weeks.
Cord leaders on Sunday defied threats by Nairobi County Police Commandant Japheth Koome that the protests were illegal.
Koome said no one will be allowed access to the city centre to demonstrate.
Siaya Senator James Orengo however said they were acting within the Constitution, and the Monday protests against IEBC will continue.
