The seat was left vacant following the death of ODM MCA Peter Nyaega last month and the opposition is keen to recapture it as the influence of Jubilee grows in the unsettled Gusii region.

On Monday, the Former ODM Chief Executive lead several MCAs to drum support for Naftali Onkoba who was chosen as ODM flag bearer and urged residents to vote the Orange party candidate.

“ODM is stronger than ever. We promised to do extra work so that we don’t over burden our party leader and that is exactly what I am doing. I will be leading campaigns together with Governor James Ongwae ahead of Raila’s tour,” she said.

‘We cannot allow Jubilee to win a single seat in Gusii and the Nyacheki seat will be just but a warm up for 2017. This is an ODM zone and any intruder will not be welcomed in our territory,” she fired warning to the Jubilee party.

Mr Odinga is expected in Kisii County mid-month where he will address a Youth summit which was postponed a month ago before making a stop overs in all nine constituencies and a subsequent mega rally at Nyacheki.
