Former ODM Executive Director Janet Ong’era has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of spreading propaganda over the decision of the party to hand over hundreds of direct nomination certificates to aspirants.
During his Wednesday’s campaign rally. Uhuru accused ODM of dictatorship for issuing certificates before actual nominations.
On Monday, the party issued certificates ahead of Friday’s nominations, a ceremony that was attended by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“It is quite funny that the president can propagate propaganda on us. There are clear rules that allow NEB to issue certificates to candidates without opponents,” said Ong’era on Thursday’s interview.
“We cannot hold nominations in areas where aspirants have no competitions and that even happens in Jubilee or any other party,” she added.
Eight sitting governor among them Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), James Ongwae (Kisii) and Josephat Nanok of Turkana were beneficiaries on the tickets.
Also, Ong’era was cleared to run for Kisii Women Representative seat after incumbent Mary Otara ditched ODM for Jubilee Party.
