Nominated Senator Janet Ong’era has yet again slammed a faction led by Kisii Senator Chris Obure terming it ‘fake’ and subsequently backed a newly constituted ‘Obuya Bwamwanyagetinge’ caucus.

The Obure’s group was behind the infamous Otamba declaration a political outfit allied to Jubilee government and has previously made hostility from locals in a number of their rallies.

And on Wednesday via a phone call, Ong’era said the Obure led faction lacked merit due to underrepresentation of leaders.

“You just can’t wake up on a certain day and start imposing people with your ideologies without consulting other leaders. When you talk of Omogusii unity, all leaders must be included which wasn’t the case,” she said.

“It was a fake group and that is why we have come up with a much better group with representation from all over the Gusii region. Our main agenda is to push for development regardless of our political affiliation,” she added.

According to her, the rival group lacked objectivity by hiding in government in the name of development to the region.

“You don’t have to be in government to have work done where you come from. That is an obligation of parliament and now that we are in parliament, we can push for the development without necessarily involving the government,” Ong’era said.
