Speaking at a burial in Nyangusu area, Ms Ong'era said that the community will not allow the seat to remain in one clan for 20 years.

"Mr Onyonka hails from Kitutu Chache South reason it will hard for him to clinch the seat. It is time he forgets about it," said the woman representative.

She said that she will back any other leader who hails from the older Gucha region.

"We have to ensure that equality is realized by locals and the only way we can achieve that is to ensure the seat rotates across Kisii county," said Ong'era.

Her reactions come just days after the flamboyant MP announced that he will be running for the county top seat in 2022.

Other leaders who have shown interest in the seat include; Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi, Dagoretti North member of Parliament Simba Arati, Manson Oyongo and many others who haven't made it public.
