The information comes after many months of speculation with a number of people linking her to Deputy gubernatorial seat.

Speaking to the reporter on Monday, the source who spoke on condition of anonymity because he’s not authorized to speak on behalf of her said Ong’era had settled on Women Representative seat after intensive consultations.

“I know it has taken long for her to inform the public her preferred seat but I want to confirm that she will run for Women Representative seat," revealed the source.

"She has consulted enough and many people are of the opinion that she goes for the seat,” said the source.

“She couldn’t deputise any gubernatorial aspirant because of other technicalities and she found out that the Women rep seat is ideal for her at the moment. She will, however, communicate soon to the public,” the source added.

The source also said Ong'era will contest through the ODM party despite the incumbent Mary Otara being a member of the party and is expected to defend the seat using the same party ticket.

“She will contest from ODM and that is a guarantee. She has no intention of decamping because she is a founding member of the party and is actually ready to face other aspirants in party primaries,” added the source even after Ong’era reportedly left a stormy ODM meeting on Friday.

Efforts to reach Ong’era for comment were futile because she could neither respond to calls nor text messages.
