Former Education Minister Sam Ongeri has sensationally apologized to Gusii people for working with a ‘corrupt’ regime under the stewardship of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ongeri who until his defection to ODM was Kenyan ambassador to UN Habitat also accused Jubilee administration of failing to contain corruption and tribalism in the country.
He was received by thousands of ODM supporters in Gusii stadium where he was officially ushered in by Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Sometimes we make mistakes but repeating it becomes a tragedy. I just realized that I have been working with a corrupt regime which is now facing hostility from Kenyans,” he said.
Ong’eri added: “I must be counted on the right side of history and that is why I am here today. We must reclaim our country from tribalism and bad governance.”
The former Nyaribari Masaba MP, who worked as a key point’s man for Kenyatta in 2013 at Gusii region, was omitted from presidential campaigns for this year.
He will be running for Kisii County senatorial seat which he narrowly lost in 2013 to incumbent Chris Obure.
