Immediate former Kenyan ambassador to UN Habitat Sam Ongeri says Governor James Ongwae will trounce his competitors easily in August.

Ongwae, a staunch ODM supporter, is facing fierce competition from Kisii senator Chris Obure, who ditched ODM for Jubilee Party a month ago.

And Ongeri, who joined ODM on Monday, says Ongwae’s track record places him at a pole position to get reelected.

“I think it will be an easy ride for Ongwae. He has good record in terms of infrastructure and health sectors. These alone are enough to earn him a second term,” he told reporters at his rural home on Tuesday.

“He will beat them so easily given that most of them are driven by selfish interests. We should be genuine to our people like Ongwae,” he added.

Ongeri’s move to ODM ended months of speculation in which he repeatedly denied joining the opposition party.
