Former Nyaribari Masaba MP Sam Ongeri has said he is still young enough to be in local politics.
The former United Nations environmental Programme envoy said his record of development for his people talks by itself and promised to undertake more if he becomes Senator.
The former Education minister spoke as Jubilee leaders among them Charles Nyachae who also seeking the same seat told him to quit active politics.
He even likened his recent defection to ODM as betrayal the trust of government which had entrusted him with a job as Unep envoy.
On Monday, Ongeri was among several other leaders from the region who crossed over from Jubilee to ODM and were received by party boss Raila Odinga at Gusii Stadium.
“We live in perilous times when people can longer afford basic things, industrial actions have become the norm and nobody seems to be doing anything to resolve these crises,” said Ongeri.
“I had been secretly monitoring political conversations over a longtime now and many of my people had confronted me with their honest fears which I had to listen to and act accordingly,” he observed.
“I have no ill feelings against it but I have now to move on and that is politics. In politics we have no permanent enemies and neither are there permanent friends,” Prof Ongeri said.
