Former Nyaribari Masaba MP Sam Ongeri has refuted reports from a section of media that he was booed on Friday while addressing mourners at Nyacheki during the burial of MCA Peter Ong’era.
According to media reports, Ongeri, Senator Chris Obure, and former CIC Chairman Charles Nyachae were forced to cut short their speeches due to hostility from a section of rowdy youths.
But speaking to the reporter on the phone, Ongeri dismissed the claims insisting that it was a creation’ of the media and urged Journalists to report accurately.
“Throughout my political life I have never been booed and I can confirm that I addressed mourners and the reception was awesome. I have never wronged anyone so the booing claims are malicious propagandas,” he said.
“This is where the media sometimes gets it wrong. Factual reporting should guide you people all times. It was a creation by some people and I call upon my supporters to dismiss such negative reports,” added the Kisii County Senatorial aspirant.
On the proposed Omogusii unity, Ongeri distanced himself from the calls insisting that there were no cracks within the Kisii community.
“I don’t know what kind of unity the people are talking about. The community is united and we are doing very well. Let us desist from creating nonexistence disunity,” he said.
