Mochama, a leading gubernatorial aspirant from Nyamira County decamped Cord for Jubilee last week reportedly after ODM Nyamira County Chair James Gesami also showed an interest in the gubernatorial race.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mochama vowed to work with people from grassroots to popularize the party in the region which is perceived to be an ODM stronghold.

“I know the challenge ahead of us but I am sure we will overturn things and popularize the party. It’s all about reaching people at the grassroots and I am happy that I have been given the responsibility to coordinate the party activities,” he said.

“Popularity of the party is something that can change overnight so even TNA can pick up and trounce ODM. It’s all about strategy and as the coordinator, I will invest in popularizing the party,” he added.

He hailed Ongeri for playing an instrumental role that saw Jubilee Alliance scoop over 25 per cent of votes from Kisii and Nyamira Counties to meet the constitutional threshold of presidential elections.

“Ongeri played an important role and without him, Jubilee won’t be in power because this was a Cord zone in 2013. I thank him for the great work and I am sure we will do better next year,” he said.
