The ongoing nutritional campaign to improve health standards of residents in Mombasa has received a boost after men pledged to take lead roles in supporting nutrition at their homes.
The men shared this during the continuing “father to father dialogue” forum at Ziwa La Ng’ombe ward in Nyali Sub-county where nutritional experts created awareness on nutrition and the role men play in supporting healthy living.
European Union-funded NGO KANCO, supported by the County Department of Health facilitated the meeting on Tuesday.
The group lauded KANCO and County Department of Health for offering health based education that was informative and life changing at the grassroots level.
The elderly men who benefited from the forum saw it prudent to convey the same message to the young fathers who are deprived of the nutritional value lessons referring to expectant mothers and children’s health.
This was part of the E.U funded Pwani Lishe Bora programme that targets to sensitize locals on various issues including awareness on the importance of balanced diet, antenatal visits for the expectant mothers, dietary diversity, hygiene, illustration on how to stimulate breast milk production among others.
