Speaking in his office Thursday morning, County Executive in charge of Water and Natural Resources Richard Kipsang’ said that the shortage, which has affected most estates in the southern zone, was inevitable after the pump broke down.

He said that normal water supply is expected to be resorted before the end of this week after engineers finish fixing a new pump at the borehole.

“Most estates have been experiencing an acute water shortage because on Thursday last week a pump at the main southern borehole broke down and therefore water could not be pumped but we are in the processing of fixing a new pump and we hope that by Friday there will be a resumption in the normal supply of water in those areas,” said Kipsang’.

He pleaded for calm from residents living in affected areas assuring that the shortage will not last past this week.

“People should not panic because it is not that we have a shortage of water, it is just the minor problem I have said ad it is being fixed,” he said.

Estates which have been affected by the shortage which started on Friday last week include Free-area, white house, East-more, Section 58, Maili sita among others.

Residents had raised their concern over the shortage and called upon the government to step in and address the issue.
