Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro has joined Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) after ditching ODM.

Ongoro, who is eyeing the Ruaraka parliamentary seat, cited unfairness and mistreatment as reasons for decamping from Raila Odinga’s party.

She was received by ANC secretary general Geoffrey Osotsi, given life membership and a direct nomination to vie for Ruaraka MP seat.

"Under the constitution, I have rights to seek election. It is unfortunate that women have been taken for granted for long," Ongoro said on Friday after joining ANC.

She was fined Sh1 million by ODM’s disciplinary committee for storming the Orange House with her supporters and attacking party executive director Oduor Ong’wen.

Ongoro was also barred from vying for the MP seat against incumbent TJ Kajwang’, with the party saying it is a disciplinary action.
