Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro says her defection from the ODM to Amani National Congress was a move to avert a repeat of the 2013 events that saw her cede ground to contest for an elective post.

She said having been prevailed upon not to vie in 2013, she was not going to be persuaded this time round.

She also claimed there was a scheme by certain individuals in the Orange party to deny her the nomination certificate in favour of her opponent.

“It was an urgent necessity because I had to make quick decisions in terms of time limits on party hopping. I was also not going to burry my head in the sand having suffered the same consequences in 2013.”

“…I was aware of a scheme by certain individuals to give my opponent the nomination certificate and thus I had to make the quick, intelligent move,” said Ongoro.

Despite her defection to the Musalia Mudavadi-led ANC, she still has the opportunity to support her choice presidential candidate who is one of the National Super Alliance (NASA) Pentagon members, Raila Odinga.

Ongoro who is eyeing the Ruaraka parliamentary seat in the forthcoming August general election said NASA is the political outfit that has what it takes to move this country to where it belongs in terms of its political objectives and changing lifestyles.

“I’m really happy that I’m within NASA and we are going to deliver a resounding win to Kenyans,” she said during an interview on KBC television on Tuesday evening.
