Opposition party ODM has fined Migori Governor Okoth Obado Sh2 million and Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro Sh1 million over violence that occured during party functions.

Obado, is accused of fanning chaos at Posta grounds during a rally to launch the re-election of Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.

On his part, Ongoro is accused of causing chaos at ODM headquaters in Nairobi while protesting unfair nominations.

The punishments were issued on Thursday by the discplinary committee led by Rails Odinga.

Obado has since distaced himself from the allegations.

"Obado should sign the party's code of conduct and reaffirm his commitment to the party," read a statement from ODM.

"He must comply with the committee's recommendations within seven days failure of which he will be disqualified from running on the party ticket."

He is also supposed to submit a written apology to the party.
