Kisii county governor James Ongwae has promised to focus on improving access to sustainable clean water in the county come next year 2017.
Ongwae revealed his government is in talks with a Germany based bank KFW to ensure sustainable access of clean water in the entire county.
Speaking on Monday at Gusii stadium during Jamhuri day celebrations, Ongwae said the county has achieved a lot in infrastructure, improving health sector among others.
“ The first phase of the Sh 1.4 billion water project has been scheduled to begin early next year in January as the contract has already been awarded to a construction firm, “ Ongwae said.
“The county has also secured funds for the development of a mini hydro plant at River Nyakwana to generate power to pump more water,” he added
He said he was working with Lake Victoria South Water Services Board to develop modalities for the implementation of the water project in Kisii County
