Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has challenged the national government to support the construction of the proposed Sombogo tea factory in the county.
Speaking in Kisii town, Ongwae said the construction of the tea factory needs a lot of money to be completed.
“My county government has given out Sh30 million to help the construction of the factory but we need the support from the national government to complete the construction,” said Ongwae.
The factory is set to be built in Kitutu Chache North constituency in Kisii County to help area tea farmers
This came after area tea farmers lamented over the delay of construction of the factory which has taken a long time to commence.
Ongwae also promised that his county government is devoted to developing all parts of the county.
“My county government has done a lot since county governments came into existence and is focusing more on developing this county,” added Ongwae.
