Kisii Governor James Ongwae says his government will work closely with national government to ensure improved security this festive season.
Ongwae also urged locals to work with relevant government agencies to boost security by reporting suspicious incidents in time.
"The county government is keen to work with national government to ensure peace throughout this festive season. We want peaceful celebrations and normal execution of people's daily business," he told the press on Tuesday.
"It is also our role as ordinary people to be proactive by reporting incidents that my compromise with our security in time. We should all work harmoniously not only at this time but also in future," he said.
The Kisii County boss urged road users to observe rules to avoid unnecessary road carnage that have risen during this December holidays.
"My appeal to all road users is that we have to be extra careful. We want to avoid unnecessary deaths like those we have seen in the past few weeks. Let us be responsible when using our roads," he added.
